October 3, 2010 ~ Luke 17:1-10

Jesus warns his disciples that scandals are bound to erupt in the community. He tells them that they must be ready to rebuke, repent and forgive continuously. In response, the leaders ask for more faith. Jesus says, ‘No; your problem is not a lack of faith, but a lack of obedience. Just do your job, i.e. rebuking, repenting and forgiving. And don’t expect a pat on the back when you’ve done it.’ The good news is that disciples have all the faith they need to do the work that God has given them to do.

Law: Your discipleship problem is not a lack of faith; it's a lack of obedience.
Gospel: You have enough faith for all that God demands of you.
